Relationship of mother’s attitude and the prevention of pneumonia to children in the primary health centre 4 Ulu Palembang

Pneumonia is infection pulmo caused by all kinds of etiology such as bacterium and virus. Every year the pneumonia kills over 1 million children in the world. Patient of pneumonia data on infant in the primary health centre 4 Ulu Palembang, from 2006-2009 there is an increasing to in 2006 has as much as 360 patient (5,6%) from 6.384 child, in 2007 as much as 473 patient (8,6%) from 5.482 child, in 2008 as much as 619 patient (11,3%) from 5.457 child and in January up to March 2009 as much as 238 patient (4,1%) from 5.715 child. The researcher wanted to know relationship of mother’s attitude and the prevention of pneumonia to children.

This research use desain study of analytic descriftif with approach of cross sectional. Total population in 2009 is 5.714 child and as for sample is 98, in this research was the mother have child at area community health centre 4 Ulu Palembang at 2009. This research is conducted in May-Junie 2009.

Study result shows that there is a relationship between mother’s year and prevention of pneumonia to children on p value 0,000, there is a relationship between mother’s education and prevention of pneumonia to children on p value 0,010, there is a relationship between mother’s work and prevention of pneumonia to children on p value 0,017, there is a relationship between mother’s knowledge and prevention of pneumonia to children on p value 0,004, and there is a relationship between mother’s attitude and prevention of pneumonia to children on p value 0,000.

The outher suggest to be increased again by health counseling about pneumonia by the nurse and midlife of the primary health centre 4 Ulu and through poster or pamflet of pneumonia.
