Pneumonia is the acute infection in the alveoli. Sometimes it happened together with the acute infection at bronchus, its called bronchopnemumonia. Pneumonia is the dangerous disease, its can caused the mortality in 3-10 hours, if it not get immediately care. WHO estimated there are 15%-20% of morbidity per year with the babies death over 40 per 1000 of born.
This research intended to know the relation of the nutrient status, exclusively of breastfeeding, mother’s knowledge, the density of home and immunization with the incidence of pneumonia in Puskesmas Muara Enim working area Muara Enim District Muara Enim Regency 2009.
It was analytic survey with cross sectional design. The samples as much as 84 respondents, the samples taken by the systematic random sampling, its done at June-July 2009.
The result of the research shows the incident of Pneumonia are 29,8% (25 children under five years old), and there is relation of nutrient status ( p value = 0,001), exclusively breastfeeding ( p value = 0,035), the density of home ( p value = 0,001) and immunization ( p value = 0,001) with the incidence of the pneumonia at the children under five years old, and there is no relation with the mother’s knowledge ( p value = 0,705).
Its suggested to improve the promotion to the people about the importance of nutrient status, exclusively of breastfeeding, the density of home and immunization to health especially for children under five years old.
